Expressive landscape – sketchbook experiment

I prepped a page in my A4 sketchbook and then painted with thick textured gesso that would later be sanded down after painting. I applied the gesso where I thought there would be trees, hedges, foreground foliage etc.  I did a quick acrylic painting on top and then sanded away. The result feels full of energy… I might be able to do something with the technique… autumn trees blowing in the wind? Something to think about.

I like this so much better than other paintings that I have laboured over.
